Once again it is time for a new release. The major updates in 1.1b are new voicecomms (not just new recordings, although we have that too), new melee code, a working Linux server (unless something odd happened since testing) and various new maps. See changelog.
As always, we need mirrors and servers. Ah, and some screenshots. Windows client/server installer (272 MiB) Moddb mirror Filefront mirror Mirror courtesy of Sir Tront-a-Lot - UK based Mirror courtesy of slash Mirror courtesy of Tjoppen. Important note for server administrators Remove 1.0b before installing 1.1b. We've fixed the players launching into air bug by removing the .phy model for the bullet. This means that you can't simply install 1.1b over 1.0b. You should delete 1.0b first (keep any extra maps and whatnot) before installing 1.1b. It's also a good idea for the simple reason that a lot of the directory structure has changed which means less disk space used compared to overinstall (duplicate files etc). Of course, you can simply delete the phy model aswell (models/game/bullet.phy IIRC). fixed various bugs new voicecomms, some old ones replaced for a total of 19 all voicecomms rerecorded voicecomm sounds are class- and team-specific (infantry and riflemen on each team share comms atm) battlecry is not in the voicecomm menus (Z and X) but bound alone to C by default weapons now have proper draw sounds improved network performance (removed unused vars) new melee code increased crouch player hull - crouched players can now be headshot from a distance readded hl2dm weapons and hl2 npcs to make linux compile work.. fixed bg2 options menu - settings now save to config.cfg all maps updated or new new maps: bg_foothills bg_freemans_farm bg_snowlake bg_dusk_patrol bg_plateau bg_pine_lms bg_pinebarrens removed maps: bg_new_england bg_skirmish_lms bg_koth bg_snowlake2 added cvars: cl_winmusic - play the win music on round restarts? cl_hitverif - display text saying who you hit and where? sv_retracing_melee - toggles the new melee code (somewhat experimental) added entities: mapfilter_excluder - used to specify which entities to keep on round restart. see fgd |

OK, this one has the bugs fixed from the premature release a week back. So, please, find some mirrors and re-upload. Thanks for all your patience.

I noticed you have to go to the default.cfg and change your name there because it reverts back to private, even after u change it in options.

I noticed that 1.1b at idle uses more bandwidth than 1.0b, if I'm not moving at all it balances out at like 2.3KBps in net_graph. Compared to 1.3 in 1.0b. Why is that?

Odd. It worked fine when I tested that earlier. I remember because I poked around a lot with config.cfg to make the options menu work (which it eventually did).
Ah. Looking at cfg/valve.rc there's an exec for default.cfg. Crap. Well, the simple solution is to simply remove default.cfg (shouldn't even be there) or edit valve.rc. I'd recommend the former. I wonder if there's still time to upload a fixed installer. So long as no major mirrors have it yet it should be possible. edit: New installer uploaded. |

I just checked. bg_woodland in both versions. It does seem to use slightly more in 1.1b. I'm guessing it has to do with the hl2dm weapons being added back in (for linux compile). I also had another theory, but I seem to have forgotten what it was.. |

I had no problems getting this, nor did anyone else who played in GoW vs TRR today afaik.
It's probably because your Estonian ISP sucks hard, maybe try an alternative download manager like DownThemAll and see if it helps. -------------------- I have passed in ignorance through a cycle of many rebirths, seeking the builder of the house. My mind is free from active thought, and has made an end of craving.

Were you using our .so (which now should be inside the .zip) or did you make your own?
