0.16b released - scroll down
Here's 0.16, although a bit late. As always, please avoid announcing it all over the place until we have a couple of mirrors. Oh, and take some nice screenshots aswell if you like. We could probably use a couple. A few days ago I noticed May 9th, 2005 was when BG2 0.0.0 was first built. So I decided to release it May 9th, 2006, its "birthday". Huzzah! As you may have noticed on the forums there's a bug with linux dedicated servers crashing. I tried a whole bunch of stuff to get it fixed, but failing that I figured servers can simply be patched later. Windows dedicated servers will work fine though, which is the majority. Anyone that's good at debugging in Linux is welcome to help. So far we've narrowed it down to two things: Linux cares about file name cases, and code. Both seem to be valid causes. For all mappers, PostalDude told me to inform you that now there's a folder in bg2/sound/ambience/ called volleys where you'll find various useful volley sounds for background noise or triggers or whatever. 0.16b released This is for both clients and servers. After some discussions we've decided to drop a number of malfunctioning maps for this release. Some had exploits, others various bugs. This means we're a bit short on maps, but hopefully we'll be able to get them fixed soon. Sorry for the inconvenience. The client crash bug fix mentioned in the changelog is probably that pesky mapchange crash bug we had in 0.15. As always, if any crashes turn up please give me the .mdmp 0.16-0.16b Patch: http://downloads.inquisitionmod.co.uk/file...-0.16-0.16b.exe http://www.bgmod.com/hosted/Tjoppen/bg2-0.16-0.16b.exe http://www.bgmod.com/hosted/Tjoppen/bg2-0.16-0.16b.zip 0.16b full installer: http://downloads.inquisitionmod.co.uk/file...2/bg2-0.16b.exe http://www.tomdon.net/downloads/hl2/BG2/bg2-0.16b.exe http://thepiratebay.org/details.php?id=3483553 (torrent) http://www.bgmod.com/hosted/Tjoppen/bg2-0.16b.exe 0.16b zip: http://www.bgmod.com/hosted/Tjoppen/bg2-0.16b.zip Code: http://www.bgmod.com/hosted/Tjoppen/bg2-0.16b-src.zip Changelog: QUOTE 0.16b - 20060512 fixed bg_fall. walls should respawn fine now removed bg_freedom. it had too many problems bg_township and bg_saratoga removed due to exploits removed bg_abbey_b3 due to the smoke not working added some safeguards in server code fixed a client crash bug toned down flashpan smoke a bit I'm keeping 0.16 links until we get mirrors. 0.16 installer: http://downloads.inquisitionmod.co.uk/file...s2/bg2-0.16.exe http://thepiratebay.org/details.php?id=3481962 - .torrent http://www.bgmod.com/hosted/Tjoppen/bg2-0.16.exe 0.16 Zip: http://downloads.inquisitionmod.co.uk/file...s2/bg2-0.16.zip http://www.bgmod.com/hosted/Tjoppen/bg2-0.16.zip Code: soon Changelog: CODE 0.16 - 20060509 new american voicecomms added "last man standing" mode added mappers can now "hide" flags so that they don't draw in the HUD flashpan now emits smoke new HUD british and american sabres now have correct sleeve colors hintboxes added, off by default(cl_hintbox) knockback on melee removed fixed wallhugging more realistic simulated bullet flight paths. overshoot is now a factor(aim low at mid-range) reseparated team/class menus musket balls now weigh 30g instead of 100kg.. lots of small tweaks and fixes new player models for most(all?) classes new skin for charleville new maps bg_saratoga bg_abbey_b3 bg_freedom bg_fall new or updated fire/reload sounds for pistols, charleville and brownbess This post has been edited by Tjoppen: May 13 2006, 03:40 PM |

SVN version should work fine, as this is built from it. Just update, rename it from bg2-svn to bg2(or copy) and remove all .svn folders so you don't accidentally reupdate non-svn version.

Sweet. I've just reconciled myself with bg2 in general and .15 in particular, and now I get a shiny .16 release to make it even more worthwhile.

Torrent added aswell as a note from PostalDude about the new volley sounds.
Oh, and I'm running a dedicated Linux server at home. IP is www.spuno.com:16015 . It uses linux mapcycle so it shouldn't crash. |

Fixed version of the installer, and I expect a hot fix for the old installer will be out tommrow. It will fix the current issue with bg_fall where the defences do not respawn at the start of a new round.

Yes !!! I can't wait tonight to play it. I already had the luck to destroy Tjoppen on a server while trying the svn.

Grrrm, no servers to play on yet. And you could have replaced castle with the dond-version, which I like more. I spotted some minor mistake on bg_saratoga, too. Ner the windmill you can reach the end of the map by walking trough a rock. Missing clip-block there... And where can I find all these tree models from bg_fall and _woodland?

All the trees are compiled in to the maps at the moment. Mainly because it makes my life easier for releasing betas. I plan on releasing them for download on the forums.

Pr3dator knows since we were testing it a few weeks ago. The 3D server made the switch to .16 already. -------------------- ![]() |

Man you move slow in that game turning and stuff, should prevent huge stupid bayonet wars. I thought there was a new first person view of the musket too. Oh well new models and sounds.

You turn as fast as ever, i. e. generally as fast as you move the mouse. For some reason sensitivity defaults to .5 now, though

The code has been open (and openly contributed to!) for almost a year. Read up on the third party forums about accessing our SVN repository. |

I'll compress a snapshot of the code anyway, for posterity. If our svn server breaks down that might be useful. Also for compiling and getting old .pdbs for debugging .mdmps.
