A new bgl.cfg is ready for download from the Files section in the Navigation menu and needs to be on all servers before Sundays matches. Dont forget to change passwords in cfg and add your fastdownload url if you have one. Also, If your match needs to be rescheduled, make sure you reschedule it for a day BEFORE Sunday. The league will NOT wait for you to complete your matches. ALL MATCHES MUST BE COMPLETED BY THE ASSIGNED MATCH DAY/TIME! If A map is causing problems play another both clans can agree to. The map crashing will be removed from rotation. Thank You!!!

I'm not blaming anyone, but it definitely sucks that, in my opinion, the two most popular/best bgl maps (Townguard and Maricopa) are both removed from rotation. I know we have tried a lot of things to get them to work and I thank all who have tried. Still a sad day to me when the best two maps are gone. =(

The maps just need to be compiled. You guys can actually do that yourself. It cannot be fixed by changing settings.

From my point of view this happens because in 1.5a we added new properties to the FLAG entity (FullCap team=both/neither/american/british and starting team=american/british/neither). Something probably goes wrong here on older maps because these aren't set. Usually the BG2 code will use sane defaults here to override settings that aren't set but I think this doesn't happen or doesn't work in this case.

Maybe HP has something to add or an idea to defend his code but to me it's definitely this cause.

Hurry go go go. Two best BGL maps out there. I would love to start playing on them instead of maps like Valley. No offense. Start maps that are small but effective like Maria and TG are great for BG. Rather then large maps where you get lost most of the time.


But on a real note, maybe you can look into it for us, that be nice.

I've redone maricopa today but actually I think I've added one of the new props there, if you really need it I can make a second copy without it for you to test.
I will get onto that after doing this other stuff.

The problem with Townguard is that Ztormi actually used a few custom textures and added them in the map, which means they are missing for anyone that decompiles. I guess someone will have to ask him for the vmf and the missing textures...

(I have all tools there in my hackers toolbox)

BTW. I don't believe the current townguard was actually Ztormi's original version, I do think HP changed something. I'll check the SVN log when I set out to fix it for 2.0.

You can view them and save any of them to disk. It can actually do anything I guess. Maybe it even reads and writes to BGL rosters, but I haven't tried so far..

As a small update I have townguard ready now as well. Grab a hopefully fixed version of maricopa and townguard here:

Hey thanx Grant. Since your into fixing old maps it would be great to see bg_ambush with two player caps in next version for bgl. One player cap flags just not teamwork for bgl.

oh mighty ztormis map bg_townguard only playable map (i mean with my computer because i have fps up to 60 sometimes in that map and its alot from this shit computer.

but soon i have 200+fps

Maps with three flags like ambush should be two player cap and stay capped until other team uncaps them, again forces teamwork!

We have tested the maps everything is ok except the bright white shiney windows and our strange textured guns on townguard, It looks to me to be HDR error, maybe should have compiled in LDR. I had the same problem on a few I compiled to.

I know the problem- It's because the map was renamed from bg_townguard to bg_townguard_bgl. The way the cubemap materials are stored in the .bsp file (using valve's bspzip) somehow causes a problem. Do you want a fixed version?



You can see the PATH is materials/maps/bg_townguard not materials/maps/bg_townguard_bgl. I think thats just the problem, so don't rename your maps after buildcubemaps

The best way is to delete old one on your Hardrive and server and put new one on. If any have the old it will say map/differs from server. Just delete it from your maps folder join server, redownload it or grab here. Good to go
